The Proshow guy was saying that the software doesn't actually import the original images, just references to them. If you move or rename those files, then that link is broken and hence you'll draw a blank with the images not displaying. Proshow basically works a bit like a database in that it references the individual files that make up the show from their original location on your hard drive. It sounds to me like something has been changed in your file structure since you created the show (have the filenames of the original images been renamed or moved to a different folder?).
